All pieces are carefully selected and authentic. Each frame is hand painted in our own shop and is unique. All framing is conservation grade. Finishing is done with traditional, earth-friendly, water based materials.

Angus Clifford Racey Helps was born in Bristol, England in 1913 of English-Scots descent. He became an artist and also went into the antiquarian book business.

A daughter, Anne, was born in 1937, and before long Racey was making up her bed time stories. When Anne had to move to the country because of the war, Racey began writing the stories down and illustrating them for her.

The stories were charming tales featuring whimsical images of brightly clothed woodland animals in roles such as teachers, fishermen, picnickers, swimmers etc.

A prominent publishing house, William Collins and Son became interested in Racey Helps’ work, and soon his books and postcards were published and available to the public.

Racey died at the age of 57. His work is widely collected on both sides of the Atlantic.
