Ed & Diane Greene: Partners In Art and Life
Ed and Diane Greene met and married in 1969. They opened their custom picture framing business in 1972 and have worked on both coasts, side by side for 40 years, handcrafting and hand painting beautiful picture frames, creating exquisite French Matting and one-of-a-kind works for their thousands of customers. They are true artists, working closely with their clients to decipher the personality nuances of both the artwork and the owner of the artwork. If a one-of-a-kind custom frame is desired, they will craft a sample so clients can see exactly what their art piece will look like within the one-of-a-kind frame. Having made hundreds of one-of-a-kind pictureframes , their studio is full of original samples from over their forty-year career.
With a background in fine art, Diane is also a specialist in the creation of French Matting. This is a technique that involves precisely drawn lines and washes of color over the face of the mat board. Marbleized paper or gilded accents can also be used.
A practical businessman, Ed also developed his SmartFrame Program to address the needs of his clients who want simple, less expensive framing for their diplomas, certificates, whimsical budget projects or keepsake children’s artwork.

"I had several certificates that my kids had won at the Boys and Girls club which I wanted to frame, but I did not want to spend a great deal of money. I went to E.Greene in Solana Beach to check out their smart frame program. It was excellent. I framed all three certificates with frames and mats that fit in to the look I wanted for much less than I thought.
Thanks Ed and Diane."
